The Katrina Artistically Revisited special commemorative multimedia events - - annually produced by Patty Lee and Armand St. Martin - - have been held every Anniversary Eve of Katrina, since Katrina, at the Theatres at Canal Place, "to remember all those we lost and to honor those who survived."

On this 5th anniversary eve of Katrina, this is also the 5th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited event.

The 5th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited special event will provide Katrina-oriented music, short films, documentary shorts, oral stories, books, and photographs. All participants in the event are local and are survivors of Katrina's wrath.

Each year this special event is personally dedicated, by the producers, in memory of "Mom" Nona Lee, 88 1/2, and William "Uncle Bill" Ulmer, 99 - - sadly neither survived the first year of Katrina's aftermath.

As always, entrance is Free to the public (over the age of 18 admitted only)

This program of unique events, for the community and guests to New Orleans, is designed to provide a soft-focus artistic approach to Katrina's tragedy, which in turn lends attendees the opportunity to mingle and share their own stories with each other while feeling a sense of camaraderie in the Lobby before the program begins. The program in the Main Theatre offers folks the further opportunity to be entertained through the arts, while quietly reflecting on their own lives since Katrina, and feeling a sense of compassion for others and healing for oneself. It also offers a time for individuals to remember the limitless acts of kindness from family and strangers alike, who helped those who could not survive Post Katrina alone.

The meaningful date and time for Katrina Artistically Revisited was purposefully created to begin every August 28th before midnight "when our lives were normal" and to end after midnight on August 29th, "when our lives were changed forever." - P.Lee, The 5th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited on the 5th Anniversary Eve

In the Theatre Lobby, 10:30 pm - 11:30 pm

A Katrina photo display, to also meet the artist, by award-winning staff photographer at the Louisiana State Museum, Mark Sindler; a book display of published Katrina books, offered for sale by the manager of Garden District Books, Amy Loewy; oral story sharing; food and drinks available for purchase at the lobby cafe, Gusto Restaurant, by Chef Adolfo Garcia.

This year's 5th Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited multimedia event is sponsored in New Orleans by: the Theatres at Canal Place, George Solomon, owner, Doug Whitford, V.P. of Film, Brian Jones, GM; Beth Fisher, the Musicians Foundation and Gig Fund; Patty and Armand St. Martin of Patty Lee Records, Amy Loewy, manager, Garden District Book Shop, and Ponderosa Stomp.

* We also wish to thank all the participants, theatre staff, and audience in advance. Many have participated and attended since the very 1st Katrina Artistically Revisited, on the first anniversary eve of Katrina, 2006. When Hurricane Gustav caused a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans for the 3rd Annual Katrina Artistically Revisited, the participants took a vote that day that "the show must go on". While the city of New Orleans was otherwise eerily emptied by midnight, August 28, 2007, the 3rd Anniversary event went on as scheduled (and. . . with an audience. . .that the management of theatre said was "more people than all the other movies combined for that day!") - the producers

4TH ANNUAL KATRINA ARTISTICALLY REVISITED - KATRINA ANNIVERSARY EVENT
August 28, 2009 Friday 11:30 PM - August 29, 2009 Saturday 12:30 AM

ONE HOUR ONLY. . . ONE NIGHT ONLY

KATRINA ARTISTICALLY REVISITED is our 4th annual, one-hour midnight special event, August 28th starting at 11:30 PM to August 29th at 12:30 AM in New Orleans to commemorate the anniversary of Katrina "in memory of those we lost and to honor those who survived".

At the Landmark Canal Place Cinema Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana, producers Patty Lee and Armand St. Martin offer a unique, solemn artistic multi-media midnight experience.

The hour-long program includes original Katrina songs by Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes who is a zydeco-music recording artist and will perform his "Didn't It Rise"; Jay Chevalier who is in the National Rockabilly Hall of Fame and is also the Official Louisiana Troubadour with the Official Hurricane Recovery Song titled, "Come Back to Louisiana"; and Armand St. Martin, a New Orleans entertainer and recording artist on Patty Lee Records who will perform his "Orleans Lullaby (Help Us Sleep)". These recording artists will also perform other Katrina-appropriate songs as well.

St. Martin, a 10th-generation New Orleanian, will also have his new CD, "Katrina Anthem" featuring his Katrina original, "Orleans Lullaby" at "Katrina Artistically Revisited". The CD includes 7 original St. Martin songs. St. Martin performed this same song live for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Make It Right Foundation's "Pink Project" kick-off press ceremonies in the Lower Ninth Ward. The song is also featured on the "30 Years of Giving Back" video DVD, "Chris Madden's Project Katrina".

"Katrina Artistically Revisited" will also feature "Stillness. . . the Aftermath of Katrina", a short bxw film produced by award-winning New Orleans photographer Dennis Couvillion with the soundtrack by Dean Dupuy and Ramsey Mcclean, and with the music recorded and produced by Armand St. Martin at Bayou Bohemia Studios of Patty Lee Records in New Orleans.

Photographs by Donn Young, Mark Sindler, and Patty Lee will provide screen backdrops for the music and oral Katrina stories.

A Trailer for the documentary "Katrina's Children", courtesy of Executive Producer of this project, Mr. Richard Colton, will be shown.

A photo film-essay wll also be on the big screen by the New Orleans Kid Camera Project, courtesy of Joanna Rosenthal and Ariya Martin, with live music by Armand St. Martin.

Several Katrina survivors will also tell their stories, including a first responder Gisela Chevalier.

This is a local FREE event, open to the public for everybody, provided by local talent and funded in full for 2008 by Armand St. Martin and Patty Lee.
